Regardless of whether you're traveling by land or air, it's time to reveal a few handy tricks for packing toiletries.

It's a demanding task to make sure you've brought all the essentials (and that they fit), let alone protect your belongings in the event of turbulence.

So, if you're having a hard time trying to cram all the products that are part of your routine into one bag, here are a few must-have tricks...

  1. Pour over products + get rid of unnecessary packaging

The best and most logical packaging trick is: pouring full-size products into mini bottles. You can usually find these flight-friendly 100 ml bottles for about $10 at your nearest drugstore. But don't stop at liquid products – get rid of other excess packaging too.

  1. Bring mini-sized products

If some products simply can't be decanted and transferred into smaller packages, you can always look for mini versions of those products. Mini products are not only adorable, but they will also come in handy after your trip because they fit into small handbags. This is especially practical when it comes to perfumes, as you can take a few with you and discover new scents that will forever remind you of your destination.

  1. Opt for multipurpose products

If you're having trouble reducing the amount of products in your makeup bag, try cutting out single-purpose products and opting for multi-purpose products instead. Things like tinted sunscreens, luscious lip balms, and creamy stick products (that you can use as blush, lipstick, and eyeshadow) will save you a lot of space. Another plus is that you can leave breakable products and palettes at home.

  1. Protect your razors

If you've ever thrown an unprotected razor into your bag, you know how easily the head can break off. Not to mention the friction the blades are exposed to, which can dull them quickly. Keep them in a container and protect the razor head with a cap to extend its lifespan.

  1. Protect your purple shampoo from leaking

Once you've experienced a purple shampoo explosion, you'll want to prevent it from happening again at all costs. To protect your bag and other products from stains, wrap a paper towel around the shampoo cap and secure it with a hair tie, so even if the shampoo leaks, the paper towel will immediately soak it up.

  1. Trust your toothbrush holder

If you're a bit of a squeamish person, we're sure you cringe at the thought of your toothbrush rolling around in your bag uncovered. After all, you're putting it in your mouth. So, since you're not an animal, be sure to store it in a reliable case to protect it from unsanitary contact with the rest of the products in your bag.

  1. Find a non-aerosol dry shampoo

There's no doubt that dry shampoo is a must-have when traveling, but if you're flying, aerosols are a no-go. Luckily, we've found an exception to that rule, as there are some pretty good powder alternatives.
